I’m so pleased to see your post. I have been eating low-carb for 12 months, went off my metformin 9 months ago then a little over week ago I started eating the ketogenic way and my blood glucose has been at the non-diabetic level for 7 days. I’m interested in the fact that it seems this way of eating may help heal people of various diseases. My son’s girlfriend has bipolar & is on medication for it which makes her sleep a lot. Do you think this diet would help her? If so where should we start?

“The Ketogenic diet is a diet extremely low in carbohydrates and protein with a high fat intake (typically under 100g of carbohydrates/ day) to get the body to use fat as the primary fuel source.”
Ketosis requires low carbohydrate intake (100g will NOT do it for many of us). It likewise does NOT require extremely low protein (this will cause muscle loss in many people), nor is high fat necessary (it will prevent weight loss in many by giving the body external fat to burn in place of on-board fat stores).
